My family history has a bunch of German Catholics in it, and my wife's grandfather was from Austria and was really into St Nicholas Day as well. In my family we did the shoes outside the bedroom door, but in my wife's family they had someone dress like St Nick and ate tangerines. (Not sure what the tangerines have to do with it?)
Ha! We do shoes either in the window or outside the front door, and we do usually get tangerines in them (in addition to nuts and chocolate). And some small toys. This year my kids were worried that their shoes were too small. :-)

ReplyDeleteWhat is your background that you celebrate St. Nicholas Day? Just curious because my family celebrates is too (I am from Hungary).
